I Am Honored To Be A Part Of Your Birth Experience

Hi! My name is Cora. I am both a Certified Birth Doula through Childbirth International and Postpartum Doula through The Active Birth Institute. I have been providing support to families in the South Jersey, Greater Philadelphia area and Southeastern Pennsylvania since 2023. I am also the eldest of 4 children, an involved godmother to 2, and a fierce advocate for reproductive autonomy and women’s healthcare. My goal is for the families I work with to feel empowered through the beautifully intense transition period of pregnancy and parenthood by providing them with holistic options, evidence-based information and unwavering emotional support. I believe that parents deserve to feel that they have the autonomy, knowledge and power to birth the way they choose to and feel the utmost comfort while doing so. During your journey, I can act as a peaceful spectator, a hands-on support person, a skilled advocate- whatever YOU need to make your birth journey as comfortable as possible.

As a Birth and Postpartum Doula, I hold modern evidence-based information, holistic remedies, traditions and spiritual empowerment equally throughout the birth experience. The birth experience is a sacred, powerful and primal journey; done countless times by our elders before us. Each womb holds the divinity and power, from within the body and spirit it inhabits, and from the line of women beforehand, that played a part in the journey to be embarked on.

Sometimes this journey can be interrupted, intervened, and overstimulated… but in most cases, it does not have to be. Modern medical interventions and technologies can be very beneficial, but they are not always necessary. I believe it is truly important to understand the value of using modern medical interventions when it is absolutely essential to the mother’s birth journey; comfort, preferences and survival being of equal value. That is why it is my mission to make sure women have the full autonomy to make informed decisions over their body, health, and overall birth experience.

My passion for birth work started well before I knew what doulas, midwives or OBs were. Being the oldest of 4, I learned very quickly that pregnancy and childbirth is a natural process that requires women to show how capable and strong they are. I specifically remember at the age of 10 years old, begging my mom to let me come with her to the hospital when she was giving birth to my final sibling, my little brother. Obviously, I was not able to experience this due to hospital policies, but I remember being so adamant that I was “old enough” (which I was right about) and that it was my “last chance” to see someone giving birth. Boy, was I wrong about that! I also had a bit of professional (and familial influence) from my older cousin. During my teen years she exposed me to her doula career, birth work and placenta encapsulation and I was immediately enthralled by the entire birth world!

As I grew up, I became increasingly aware of the lack of education and resources easily available for birthing parents and individuals, which encouraged me to be part of the change I wanted to see in society.  Right out of high school, I enrolled in college with the goal of becoming a certified midwife. When Covid-19 shut down the world, that required me to adjust my plans. But it was not long before I found a new goal of becoming a Certified Birth Doula. When I had finally made the decision to become a doula, that was it. Every day since the first module of my first class, I continue to educate myself on up-to-date evidence-based information and different ways I can empower and support the incredible individuals I am so fortunate to work with.
